Just Signed Up With iSwitch? Here Are 7 Common Queries Answered!

Signing up with iSwitch is a smart step forward towards monthly savings off your electricity bill, but what happens next?

You probably have quite a few questions regarding your electricity supply or your iSwitch account and we are here to help!

In this article, we will take you through seven of the most asked questions customers have, from receiving the first bill to payment options and how to refer your friends for additional rewards!

7 Sign-up Frequently Asked Questions Answered

1. When Will I Receive The First Bill?

Your first bill will be emailed to you approximately 40 to 60 days after your contract start date.

Alternatively, you can download it from the iSwitch Mobile App or through our Self-Service Portal (SSP).

Because we have a slightly different billing cycle from SP Services, you won’t receive your bill at the same time as your water & gas utility bill.

Additionally, if you switch from another retailer, your billing cycle will be different from your current cycle, so do keep that in mind.

2. What Are My Payment Options?

Paying your iSwitch electric bill is a breeze, there are two main avenues that you can do so.

Recurring Payments For Extra Convenience

You can easily pay your bills every month automatically by setting up recurring payments through either credit card or GIRO.

A. Recurring Credit Card Payment Online

By setting up recurring credit card payments, you can enjoy automatic payments without having to manually pay your bill every month.

You also get to stack those awesome credit card reward points as you pay your bill every month!

B. Pay Through GIRO

You choose to set up GIRO and pay using this method for your convenience.

Plus, when you set up GIRO, you will earn 25 reward points – that’s equivalent to a $2.50 bill rebate!

Please note that GIRO details are not transferred from SP Group to iSwitch (or any other retailer) so you will have to set up GIRO again.

You just need to download the GIRO form here and mail back the original to us. Please note that the approval process will take 4 to 6 weeks and during this period, you can make payment through AXS or credit card.

If you are a DBS or POSB customer, you can enjoy quicker GIRO approval of only 3 to 5 calendar days!

You can apply for it through online banking here.

One Time Payment Methods

Alternatively, you can make one-time payments through the AXS machines, online or using PayNow.

C. AXS Kiosk Machines

Alternatively, you can also make physical payment at any AXS machines island-wide by using your iSwitch bill or iSwitch account number.

If you prefer to do so online, you can access the AXS E-Station and make payment using NETS or credit card and debit card from DBS, POSB, Citibank, OCBC Bank or UOB Bank.

D. Pay Online

You can also choose to pay online through the iSwitch Self Service Portal or our mobile app.

We accept Visa, Mastercard or Amex.

E. Pay Using PayNow

For your preference, you can also pay using PayNow. Simply scan the QR code on your bill and make payment via your bank’s mobile banking app.

You can easily retrieve your latest bill from either our Self Service Portal or from your email.

3. Why Is My Consumption So High?

There are a few reasons why your electric bill may seem higher from time to time. This is because meter readers from SP take readings every 2 months, the consumption will be estimated on a month where the readings are not taken.

This will mean that your bill on certain periods, might reflect a higher or lower number due to overestimation or under-estimation. But there is no need for worry, any adjustments will be made on the following actual meter reading month.

Other possible reasons could include an increase in energy usage from your household during periods such as school holidays where more occupants are at home during the period.

Additionally, installing a new appliance such as a refrigerator or air conditioner can affect your overall household electricity consumption.

4. What Happens If I Relocate During My Contract?

At iSwitch we make the process of relocating easy. Whether you are relocating or expatriating out of Singapore during your contract with iSwitch, instead of paying the Early Termination Charge, you only have to pay a small flat fee.

When relocating within Singapore, just provide valid documents and re-contract with iSwitch and you will be refunded the flat fee to your account once your new house electricity supply contract is active.

That means essentially, you incur no charges for relocation!

5. Can I Opt For Paper Billing?

Yes, while bills are emailed to you or downloadable through our mobile app or Self-Service Portal, you can choose to get paper billing.

However, please note that there is a hard copy $1 charge ($1.07 after GST) per bill for paper billing.

6. Am I Eligible To Use My U-Save Rebates?

The U-Save rebate is part of the GST Voucher meant to help households with their utility bills, including the electric bill.

In order to be eligible, you will have to fulfil the following 4 conditions:

  • If you own and live in your HDB flat, there must be at least one Singapore citizen owner or occupier in the flat; or
  • If you partially rent out the HDB flat that you own and live in, there must be at least one Singapore citizen owner or occupier in the flat; or
  • If you rent an entire flat, there must be at least one Singapore tenant;
  • And any immediate family members living in the same flat must not own or have any interest in more than one property.

Depending on your house type, you could receive between $355 to $595 worth of U-Save rebates.

Your U-Save rebates are applicable for your iSwitch electric bill. It will be used to offset your SP Group bill for your other utility charges (water, gas and refuse collection) first before it is used to offset your electricity bill.

That means the remaining bill rebate could be less than your original U-Save rebate entitlement.
